Canadian Women’s Rights Activist Investigated By Royal Canadian Mounted Police for Speaking Out Against US Foreign Policy

Since September 11 a number of teachers, professors and university employees in the US have come under fire for writing emails or making comments criticizing US foreign policy.

Now Canada is joining the fray. Sunera Thobani, a women’s studies professor at the University of British Columbia has been accused of a hate crime —publicly inciting hatred against Americans for giving a speech criticizing U.S. foreign policy. She’s been denounced on the floor of the Canadian Parliament and is now being investigated by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
