Hi there,

Today is your last chance to donate during Public Media Giving Days, a time to celebrate what public and independent media gives to you by giving back. If you think Democracy Now!’s reporting is a critical line of defense against war, climate catastrophe and authoritarianism, please make your donation of $10 or more right now. In honor of Public Media Giving Days, a generous donor will TRIPLE your donation, which means it’ll go 3x as far to support our independent journalism. Democracy Now! is funded by you, and that’s why we’re counting on your donation to keep us going strong. Please give today. Every dollar makes a difference—in fact, gets tripled! Thank you so much.

House Passes Dream and Promise Act, Which Could Grant Citizenship to 2.5 Million

HeadlineJun 05, 2019

The House passed the Dream and Promise Act Tuesday, paving a path to citizenship for 2.5 million undocumented young people, or those with temporary immigration status. The legislation was passed after years of grassroots organizing. In a statement celebrating the bill’s passage, the immigrant youth-led organization United We Dream urged the Senate to pass the act, adding, “We refuse to use our safety as bargaining chips to build up the deportation force and put other communities at risk. We will keep fighting for permanent protection and reject any proposals to grow Trump’s deportation force and anti-immigrant agenda.” The White House has indicated it would veto the bill even if the Republican-controlled Senate also passed it.
